5 TikTok Food Hacks That Will Change Your Life

    May 10, 2022 | by Kelsey Sackmann | Leave a Comment

If you're on a mission to elevate your kitchen skills, look no further than TikTok. The social media platform is teeming with life changing culinary tips and kitchen tricks. Maybe you've seen them or heard about them, but have you tried these TikTok food hacks? Here's a list of insanely viral hacks that are totally worth the hype.

    1. How to Hull a strawberry

Hulling strawberries can be a drag. A knife or huller will get the job done, but a reusable straw works just as well. Just slide the straw through the bottom of the berry and you have a perfectly hulled STRAWberry (pun intended).

    2. how to shred chicken

Trying to shred chicken can be an absolute nightmare. Using two forks works okay, but by the end your chicken looks like it was cut with a knife and it took FOREVER. Want to know how to shred chicken in mere seconds?

Use a food mixer! Grab a fairly large bowl to prevent chicken from flying all over your kitchen, turn on your mixer, and voila - perfectly shredded chicken. You could use this hack for salmon too if you're making tacos.

    3. Strip Herbs with Box Grater

Raise your hand if you’ve spent hours stripping herbs by hand or with a fancy gadget you thought would make life easier but didn’t. Because I know I did! Out of all the TikTok food hacks, I wish I'd known about this one sooner.

Believe it or not, you don't need a special tool to strip fresh herbs (you were right, mom) nor do you need to waste hours doing it by hand (see mom, I told you). Pulling it through a box grater will totally do the trick.

    4. Slice Multiple Cherry Tomatoes at Once

So many tomatoes, so little patience. Enough is enough, stop wasting time cutting each individual tomato while trying not to cut open your finger or get sprayed with juice. This is one of my favorite ways to slice tomatoes and its so easy! Watch me do it here.

Simply spread the tomatoes on your cutting board in a single layer. Place a food storage container lid or another cutting board on top, then slice the tomatoes in a horizontal motion.

    5. how to remove egg shell from a bowl

There is nothing more frustrating than breaking an egg and a whole load of shell ending up in the bowl or frying pan too.  But fear not, this TikTok hack will solve our dramatic, life-ending shell problem.

All you have to is run your finger under a tap so it’s wet. Then place it on that dastardly piece of egg shell so it sticks, and pull it out. Simple as that!

After learning about the ice cube and leftover rice hack, I think it's safe to say I fell down a rabbit hole this weekend and cooking will never be the same. Don't know what I'm talking about?
