    5-Minute Fiber Filled Snacks

    Feel fuller longer, improve digestion, and nourish your gut with these fiber filled snacks. Foods high in fiber tend to be more filling and satisfying, plus they're easy to throw together and can satisfy your sweet tooth! 

    What Makes a good source of fiber?

    Only 5% of Americans meet the FDA's daily recommendation of 25-30 grams of fiber per day. By adding a variety of high-fiber snacks to your daily diet, you can put a serious dent in that daily value. A "good source" of fiber, means they provide over 10% of your daily value. That translates to more than 3 grams per standard portion size.

    Believe it or not, fiber is hiding in some of your favorite foods (not just fruits & veggies). Popcorn, almonds, and whole grains are excellent sources and can be added to almost any snack.

    Turning these into a snack that actually tastes good is easier than you think! Whip up some of these winning combos in less than 5-minutes.

    DIY Trail Mix

    • Air popped popcorn
    • Handful of nuts or seeds
    • Fresh or dried fruit
    • Chocolate chips

    Grilled PB&J

    A new twist on your favorite lunch or snack! Toast the bread, add 2 tablespoon peanut butter and ¼ cup sliced strawberries. Using whole grains and fresh fruit is an easy way to boost your fiber without sacrificing taste.

    Peanut Butter Stuffed Dates

    Dates are the best of the best when it comes to fiber. They're sweet, satiating, and delicious. Using pitted dates, cut in half, add a tablespoon or two of peanut butter, and put them back together. An easy, portable snack when you're short on time.

     

    Cereal Crumble Yogurt Parfait

    I love a classic yogurt parfait, but I discovered something even better while digging through my pantry the other day. My husband left only cereal crumbles in the box and instead of throwing them out, I threw them in my yogurt to add some crunch. The cereal was already high in fiber, but adding strawberries and almonds took it to a whole new level. You can use regular granola, but watch for options high in sugar.
